1. Overview

One Simple Resume ("we," "our," or "the app") is designed with privacy as a core principle. Unlike most resume builders, we do not require an account, do not collect personal information, and do not store your resume data on our servers.

Everything you create in One Simple Resume — your resume content, personal details, work history — is stored entirely within your own browser using localStorage and IndexedDB. Your data never leaves your device unless you choose to export it as a PDF.

2. What Data We Collect

We do not collect personal resume data. The following may be collected automatically through standard web infrastructure:

  • Anonymous usage analytics (pages visited, features used) — without personal identifiers
  • Browser type and operating system (for compatibility improvements)
  • Aggregate performance metrics (load times, error rates)
  • IP addresses in server logs (retained for up to 30 days for security purposes)

We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any content you enter into your resume unless you voluntarily contact us via email.

3. Local Storage & Your Resume Data

Your resume content is saved locally in your browser using the Web Storage API (localStorage). This means:

  • Your resume data stays on your device — never uploaded to our servers
  • Clearing your browser's local storage will delete your saved resumes
  • Your data is not accessible to us or any third party
  • Switching devices or browsers means starting fresh (no cloud sync by design)

4. AI Features & Data Processing

When you use AI-powered features (such as AI Bullet Improver, AI Summary Writer, or Job Description Tailoring), the relevant text you submit is sent to our AI provider to generate suggestions. This text:

  • Is processed transiently — not stored permanently by our AI provider
  • Is not used to train AI models (as per our provider's zero-data-retention policy)
  • Is only sent when you explicitly trigger an AI feature (never automatically)

You can use One Simple Resume without ever using AI features if you prefer complete data isolation.

5. Cookies

One Simple Resume uses only essential functional cookies — such as your theme preference (light/dark mode). We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party marketing cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings without affecting core functionality.

6. Third-Party Services

We use a minimal set of third-party services to operate One Simple Resume:

  • Cloud hosting provider — serves the application files (no resume data stored)
  • Analytics provider — anonymous page view and feature usage tracking
  • AI provider — processes text only when you trigger AI features (see Section 4)

None of these providers receive your personal resume content under normal usage.

7. PDF Export

When you export your resume as a PDF, the document is generated entirely within your browser — no data is uploaded to our servers during this process. The resulting PDF file is downloaded directly to your device.

8. Children's Privacy

One Simple Resume is intended for users 16 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of One Simple Resume after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
